this is a very metallica-esque album in my oppinion. Also i dont think there's any screaming on here either, which really pisses me off. this will most likely be one of those love it or hate it albums. thats what i think about it.

The music still rips ass, but Matt has definetly mellowed the vocals and sounds like a young James Hetfield in alot of the songs. Thanks for the up! \m/

Sounds like a lame excuse ala A7X. Gave it a chance but I had to quickly change to something else. Very contrieved and generic.

Not to knock anyone's taste because I'm talking personally here, and not in terms of other music fans, but I've grown outside of the "they have to scream to be good" phase and I'm really hoping this album will do them justice... and if the vocals are that bad, hopefully their guitar lessons paid off. Ascendancy was great, and I loved the screaming... no clue on why he stopped, maybe it was an Avenged Sevenfold scenario, maybe it was to suit the music better (Metallica-style guitars yield Metallica-style vocals?) or maybe he just caught wind of all the parody videos on YouTube, lol. Either way, thanks a million for the upload, I haven't seen this anywhere else yet. Much appreciated, DeathKing.

I saw them live. I cried since they decided to do a mini version of "bottle of pills ..." (pantera).

The reason the A7X vocalist stopped screaming was because it was either that or losing his voice by the age of 30.

And Trivium's just up for a change, they like to experiment. Maybe Trivium will do a Ascendany-esqe album the next time, maybe they'll be 100% Trash M. I've already ordered this CD, and I'm waiting for it eagerly.

I love this band and the new sound, but the older was better. Anyway, thanks so much for this and Cradle Of Filth too!

Thanks kindly for the post Death King, listening now, and it's definitely well worth a listen, but it does sound exactly like Metallica. Trivium said in UK interviews they wanted to be the next Metallica, but I thought they meant in terms of sales!

Musically, this album is good and something different. But, the vocals suck big time. I liked Trivium because the screaming vocals went well along with their crunching riffs. This is too mellow for a follow-up to Ascendancy !!

metalcore is the gayest genre ever and Triviums stiff, seemslike another Avenged Sevenfold thing where it's vocals instead of screaming...

It just shows how dangerous screaming is...

I hated this album, personally. "This World Can't Tear Us Apart" was a new low for Trivium, IMO. The last track is kinda cool, though.

This record is fucking great! maybe it sounds like Metallica but they were´nt able to do such an ass kicking record. Just listen to "St.Anger". instead they are touring around and call it "escape from the studio". blah blah. Trivium just kicked the old men´s asses! ha ha XD

P.S.: Death King i would like to thank you for keeping this shit up! respect! ;-)

Screaming isn't that bad for your vocal chords, except when you don't know how to do it. If it hurts your throat immediately when you scream, it'll fuck your voice up.

the riffs are still cool but as i listen to it more, i get bored, maybe because i'm used to listening to ascendancy.nway as they say u can't please them all and i guess i'm just one of those who were not pleased with the new vocal style.just have to wait for the next album

Vocally, yes this is very, VERY 'justice' era Metallica, but musically not really guys-this owes more to Testament, Iced Earth, and even Nevermore and Dream Theater...to an extent anyways!

I listened to the preview clips of the songs at a local cd store. I hear the whole wanna-be metallica singing going on. That Heffey guy is TRYING; but i was wondering if anyone else thought the same thing about the sound....ya....AVENGED SEVENFOLD. Like old AvengedSevenfold vocals ( despite lack of screaming vocals, but Matt Shadows went for the metallica vocals then aswell i think )
This Matt, of Trivium is prolly trying to live out his fantasy of pretending to be Hetfield, but i dont think thats gonna work, the music is rooted in pussified emo/metalcore trend...and MetallicA's soul went against the grain...these guys might as well have used to been a hair band like Cinderella or something... little girls and dorky guys might be fooled...but the true metalheads aint.

I liked the sound of one of the songs though, called Contempt Breeds Contamination, but i think this cd will prove that modern american metal AINT where its at.
The soul of metal really resides in Europe...they took the torch and have been carrying ever since.

American metal is just too deluted with that emo bull crap that just conflicts with the whole idea of metal. Thats why it just feels impure and just like garbage.
